New Zealand Culture

The Maori people are of Aotearoa and first arrived in waka hourua ( canoes) from their ancestral homeland of Hawaiki over 1000 years ago. Today, Maoris comprise app. 14 percent of the New Zealand population. Their language and culture has a major impact on all facets of New Zealand life.

Overall, New Zealand is comprised of a diverse and multicultural range of people that are friendly, unique, inventive and resiliant having bought with them to New Zealand their own distinctive ways of life.
